Hello everyone! As mentioned in a post, there is a lot of new stuff going on with us! About 2 weeks ago, we went to Cairns for a weekend (about 13.5 hr. north of Yeppoon), and liked it so much we decided to move there! So last weekend, we packed everything in the car and made the trip. Our new apartment is in Trinity Beach, about 15 min. north of Cairns.
On our weekend trip here, we took a cruise to the outer great barrier reef and went snorkeling- it was awesome! The fish and reef were so colorful, and there were some giant clams almost as big as me! We also visited the village of Kuranda in the rainforest, getting there by Skyrail, similar to a ski lift, but fully enclosed and no snow. At Kuranda, my favorite thing was birdworld, where we got to feed the birds, they would land on you and beg for food! We also visited a butterfly garden, and had a chance to walk on some of the trails. We also drove up to Port Douglas for a day and enjoyed the beach and did some shopping.
Prior to our Cairns vacation, we took another weekend trip to the Whitsunday islands. These are about a 5 hour drive north of Yeppoon. We took a day cruise that visited 3 of the islands, including Whitehaven beach, Hook Island, and Daydream Island. We had a chance to go snorkeling here too. We enjoy snorkeling, if you couldn't tell! We also spent a day on Hamilton Island, where we went parasailing, and got around in a golf cart!
